Bulk billing for members of the co-op westgate health co-op (wghc) is unique. More importantly the organisation is owned by its users - over 5,000 of them - who elect a local board of directors to oversee the operation and development of the co-op. It is a registered community co-operative that: - operates two general practice medical centres; - provides cost-effective dental surgery; - offers a range of allied health services. - quality health care - bulk-billed and/or affordable services - community ownership & control.

Importantly, our facilities have been improved and updated to ensure our maximum valuable wealth our people have what they need to provide our members with service excellence. This speaks true to our cooperative model, which brings us all together to build a health service in which we are equal partners. Strategic Direction 4: Prepare an innovative plan to achieve financial growth to face tomorrow costs. Conduct a skills' assessment of the Board. The organization provides a wide range of health services employing over 30 staff and Doctors. The philosophy of West gate Health is based on the principles of cooperation: cooperation between patients and health professionals in caring for the health needs of the community and cooperation between staff, management and members in the governance and urge of the organization. We trust that this increases the impact we have on health care, and it also contributes to common learning and empowerment. As a nonprofit organization, any extra from operations remains in the organization, and is old to develop the mission and services of the Coop. The organization is owned by its users over 9,00 of them who elect a local Board of Directors to handle the operation and development of the Coop. Maryann has worked at West gate Health for 23 years. Her particular interests include obstetrics and shared antenatal care. Stephen has worked for many years at our Newport clinic. He is a GP supervisor with the University of Melbourne training medical students and has a special interest in delivering care to our aged community. Kay enjoys working and providing her services to the community. She has been a Doctor at West gate Health since 1987 and her interests are across a wide range of general practice including shared antenatal care, geriatrics and mental health. As well as working at both South Kingsville Newport, Chris has also worked part-time in community health, occupational health, Aboriginal and student health. Catherine has a special interest in Women’s Health and GP counseling. Dick has a exceptional interest in Community and Aboriginal Health. When he is not occupied he likes to swim and bush walk. He has worked across many fields of general practice and in more recent years in his own clinic. Gordon has taken an energetic interest in the Coop since its establishment and has served on the board for many years. They aid cover the costs associated with operating our two clinics. We believe that the Coop’s philosophy of membership fees provides a more equitable system of providing high quality health concern to the complete community, rather than having to charge a fee for every medical service.
